What is Zijpe? Zijpe is the oldest polder in the Netherlands and is a municipality located on the North Sea coast in the ”Kop van Noord-Holland”. Zijpe has 14 kilometers of coastline from Callantsoog to Petten. Zijpe characterized by openness, peace, fresh sea air and beautiful vistas. Together with the isle of Texel, this area has the most hours of sunshine in the Netherlands. Behind the dunes lie the beautiful flower fields, which are part of the largest contiguous area of spheres in the world (LTO-Noord, section Zijpe and KAVB).
In this oldest polder in the Netherlands are several areas of outstanding natural beauty, such as Zwanenwater (Swan Lake) which houses rare species of waterfowl.
The community of Zijpe is most dependent on tourism and flower breeding. These two sectors act together during the manifestation Flowering Zijpe.
Foundation Flowering Zijpe arising from Foundation Innovative Zijpe (S.I.Z., www.zuiverzijpe.nl), a joint body of all land in denominators Zijpe (eg. various tourist entrepreneurs, LTO-North Division Zijpe, policy, nature organizations, and others), is responsible for the program of these theme month.
